Welcome to the ceremony at 10th August at 14:00 in Talgje Kyrkje! This church is from 1140 AD and is where Alette’s parents and grandparents were married as well. The sermon will be held by our good friend Tobias Wang.

Reception

The reception will be held in a greenhouse just by the church. They usually grow and sell flowers, but Ellen and John were kind enough to let us use it for a weekend. We will be out of season so most of the flowers will be gone by then, but have a look at what it’s like in full bloom! The island is pretty exposed to the sea, so it might get chilly. Bring a coat.

Additionally, the floor is partly gravel, so high heels are a challenge. Block heels might be a better choice.

Travel

The airport you want to get to is Stavanger/Sola (SVG). Norwegian Airlines do direct flights from Manchester on some days of the week, otherwise you will probably have to transit in Oslo or Copenhagen. From London you have more options. If you’re 25 or younger, you can benefit from youth tickets at SAS or Norwegian. For Norwegian you use the code UNDER26 to get the discount (it’s not always a lot), for SAS you select youth as the traveler when booking.

To get to Talgje from the airport you can take the airport express bus to Stavanger (book a ticket on the website to avoid a fee, Stavanger lufthavnStavanger Bussterminal). Get off at the last stop and walk down to the passenger ferry terminal Fiskepiren. Book your ticket here from Fiskepirterminalen to Talgje. Lastly there is a 15 min walk across the island to the venue.

Or, you know, ask and see if we have time to pick you up.

Accommodation

Alette has reserved a big airbnb right next to the venue for the weekend (Friday afternoon – Sunday morning) and we thought we could prioritise you internationals there if you’re interested. Price is roughly £35 per person for both nights. Note that the nearest hotels are in the city and the boats don’t go Saturday night, so we absolutely don’t recommend that (cabs are very pricy).

Speeches and activities

We appreciate all the entertainment and activities our guests want to contribute with througout the day. If you have a great idea or feel the need to make a short (!) speech, then please get in touch with one of our toastmasters Emilie Iden and Haakon Emmanuel Ostrø. They can slot you into the program and assist with feedback on your plan. If there’s anything you need copied up for the guests (i.e. lyrics for the song you wrote us), then email this to Haakon as well.

Speeches are capped at 5 min, at the risk of getting hosed.

Wishlist

We made a wishlist from Tilbords that you can find here, but only realised after the fact that the website is only available in Norwegian. Sorry!
